Credential Analysis

Also called: ID verification, document authentication

Automated or algorithmic verification of a government-issued photo identification document — checking its security features, issuer, format, and (often) comparing the ID photo to a live selfie. One of the two identity-proofing pillars required for Remote Online Notarization in Pennsylvania.

Where KBA asks “what do you know?”, credential analysis asks “what do you have?” — and confirms the ID hasn’t been tampered with. Current RON platforms generally include credential analysis as a standard session step, usually performed by a specialist vendor (Jumio, Intellicheck, Onfido, etc.) integrated into the platform.
