Commission ID

Also called: notary ID, 7-digit commission number

The seven-digit unique identifier assigned to each PA notary by the Department of State. Under the 2026 final rule, this ID must appear on every stamp impression the notary makes.

Before the 2026 rule, stamp requirements varied in how they expressed the notary’s identity. The new rule standardizes this: seven digits, on every impression, always. Stamps ordered before the rule took effect must be replaced on renewal at the latest — and should be replaced sooner for clarity.
